TEHRAN - Intelligence Minister Hojjatoleslam Mahmoud Alavi has cautioned against the conspiracy of the enemies to stir up sectarianism in the Muslim world.

Alavi made the remarks in a conference on tribal unity held in the south-eastern city of Shushtar on Saturday, IRNA reported.

He said that unity among Muslims is essential for the Muslim world and all should follow the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who has often stressed Muslim unity.

Alavi cautioned against enemies’ plots to discriminate Muslims based on being Shia or Sunni, Arab or non-Arab, Kurd or Turk, noting that what matters in Islam is not ethnicity but piety.

“These are devilish schemes and the devils of today are America and Zionism,” the intelligence minister said.
